Sailing Yacht on Hard in for refit

Expert consulting and design services for the refit of a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2.

This cherished 1999 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2, a vessel with countless offshore miles and the owner's unwavering trust, is set for an ambitious transformation. Initially, the plan involved replacing the rig and modifying the deck fitout to minimise water ingress. However, with the skipper's goal to compete in the 2026 World Star Race, the project expanded significantly. To qualify, the yacht must meet the stringent World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations - Cat 0. Although originally constructed to the RCD standards and all related ISO regulations, substantial modifications are required for race eligibility.

In collaboration with the owner and the yard, we developed and supported a comprehensive refit specification and design package in line with these special regulations, and the other updates onboard. This includes structural alterations, the addition of multiple watertight bulkheads, hatches, deck equipment, systems, electrical upgrades, and enhanced safety equipment.

If you are planning a similar project, it is crucial to create a detailed specification of work, professionally design structural and other modifications, and conduct thorough due diligence to ensure your vessel's offshore readiness.
